Race to Read: A Step-by-Step Guidebook for Parents

Questions and Answers

This book was written for children ages 3-9.

1. How will I know where to start my child in the book?
There is an easy-to-use placement guide in the back of the book. It will tell you exactly where to start.

2. Can I help my child even if I don’t remember how I was taught to read?
We know that most parents don’t remember how they were taught to read. That is why we have given you the exact words to say to teach each skill and we have included detailed explanations for you.

3. Does this book teach phonics?
Yes. Children need to learn basic phonics skills along with a number of other skills that help youngsters decode unfamiliar words. We have also included 12 lists of words called the ‘high frequency words’, which children need to learn to read without hesitation. And we give you activities to practice skills and ultimately to ensure success.

4. Can this book supplement my Homeschool reading curriculum?
Homeschool parents love this book. The exact sequence for teaching a child to read is clearly stated, step-by-step. All of the needed teaching materials, except for the storybooks, are contained within our guidebook.

5. Can my child’s tutor use this book?
Tutors LOVE this book because it helps determine exactly where a child is, keeps track of progress made, and has a built in reward system.

6. My child is already reading, will this book be too easy?
No. This book will help determine your child’s reading level and help you teach the next step. If a child is already reading successfully at the third grade level and is motivated to continue reading, you will not need to buy this book.

7. Will I need to buy additional materials to use with this book?
You will want to look at the recommended booklists and borrow these books from the public library.

8. Do you provide support?
The authors are committed to supporting you to the best of our ability. We provide demo lessons via YouTube and will answer questions from emails.

9. Can grandparents use this book?
Some of our most loyal customers are grandparents. They tell us again and again, “I sure wish I would have had this book when I was raising my own children.”

Our guarantee:

If, within 4 weeks of the date of purchase and after using our guidebook as instructed for at least 10 minutes a day, your child has not made progress in his or her reading level, you may return the book for a refund.
